Today is Read Across America Day, and, in honor of the occasion, students in Mr. Tuffiash’s Journalism 2 class browsed through old copies of The Avonews dating back to 1925. Of course, back then, it wasn’t called The Avonews, and Avonworth wasn’t even a school. Nonetheless, the origins of our school’s paper go back to before the Great Depression. Think about that for a second. That’s an insane amount of time for such a small school to have a published paper. Senior Maryana Stern said “It was really interesting to see what students just like us published years ago. Someday, future generations of Avonworth kids may be doing the same thing, but with our articles.” Luckily for future Avonworth students, we have online records of our articles for easy access!
