Two years ago, quarterback Zach Chandler had to fill the shoes of Matt Donovan when he went down with an injury and was out for the season. Unfortunately for Chandler, he will now be the one sidelined while either Paul Heflin or Josh Drwal steps in in the wake of his season-ending fractured ankle. The future is in question, and tension and nerves are high as the team prepares for yet another season without their number one quarterback.
“I don’t think we can run the whole time against North Catholic or teams like that. We’re gonna have to be able to pass, and I don’t know if we have the depth for that,” said junior Thomas Donovan.
Others disagreed with the negative outlook. “Of course they’re feeling down because the star quarterback is out, but that’s not going to stop us from doing what we do best,” said junior Shane Fitzgerald.
His teammate Josh Nosal, also a junior, agreed with his optimism stating that, “the team is looking forward to rebounding.” The team will have that chance tonight against Shenango.
