On February 4th, after a rescheduling, nine teams were ready for dodgeball. The second charity dodgeball even to be held at Avonworth High School this year, this time including teams from Northgate. Six teams from Avonworth and three from Northgate. This was Jay Knable’s second time running the tournament, and he predicted Glorious, from Avonworth, to take it all. They however did not win and SAWB, from Northgate, emerged victorious.
“I decided to include Northgate teams to try and make the event bigger and more competitive,” said Knable when asked why he included Northgate into a normally Avonworth only even. Doing this did add an element to the competition but did not have a very big impact on the amount of teams playing.
Knable predicted to raiseabout $400 for breast cancer awareness, and came close to his goal by pulling in $350. Charging $5 per-player on each team and $1 for spectators.
The spectator turnout was moderate, it was not a big standing room only sell but had a few people show up to support friends.
The competition was fierce for most of the games. The teams enjoyed the time they had and had great fun with some friendly banter between teams. That is the point of the whole thing, have a good time and give money to a great cause. On top of that a little friendly competition is always a fun time.
