The start of the Pittsburgh Penguins season has been fantastic and this team isn’t showing any drop off from winning the Stanley Cup, even with an unknown return from captain Sidney Crosby. So the question is how far can this team go this year?
Considering they didn’t lose or gain anybody over the off season, this is basically looking like the same Stanley Cup team from last year. Also with a stellar start to the season from goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. The pair combined can cause a scary duo when the original starting goalie Matt Murray, who just signed a three year contract, comes back from a broken hand in the next month.
A new surprise arose this year for Pens fans during the first game against the Washington Capitals, when Tom Sestito made his team debut. As Tom Wilson of the Caps repeatedly hit Sestito with his stick, Sestito had enough as he dropped the gloves and landed a couple shots on Wilson. As of this year, maybe the Pens have a new goon and his name is Tom Sestito.
Another guiding factor to the 2016-2017 season is that the infamous HBK line, of Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino, and Phil Kessel is back on the line. The HBK line has yet again started to torch NHL defense this season. So the question remains how far will this team go?
From the looks of it, many Pittsburgh fans and analysts said they could yet again make another deep playoff run and quite possibly a Stanley Cup final.
