Avonworth’s co-ed golf team, led by senior Katie Carlson’s WPIAL Championship qualification, has had a relatively successful season thus far with a respectable record of 6-3.
When asked what he liked about golf, Michael Donovan said, “I like how it is you against the course. You can’t blame anyone but yourself.” A quote that emphasizes the individualized aspect of golf, despite it being a team sport here at Avonworth. However, Michael did acknowledge how the team does help each on other on the course and compete with each other to get a better overall score as a team.
Of course, even the golfers see some of the drawbacks commonly associated with golf, and David Binley acknowledged one of them saying, “I do not like the slow pace.” However, that has not diminished his interest in or enjoyment of the sport.
