Avonworth School District
Update – Virtual Learning to Begin 3/19
Important Update Regarding COVID-19 and School Closure
Virtual Instruction to Begin for Avonworth Students on March 19, 2020
Dear Avonworth Parents and Caregivers,
As you know, this situation with the COVID-19 virus has been very fluid and changes occur often. On Sunday, March 15, districts across Pennsylvania received additional guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) with regard to moving forward with instruction. In this communication, PDE indicated that districts across the commonwealth can begin to move forward with offering online/virtual instruction during the school closure.
To ensure the appropriate development of lessons for virtual/online learning, the District will implement the following schedule for the next two weeks to ensure proper planning and execution of virtual instruction.
3/17 & 3/18: Act 80 Days: No School for Students/Teacher Professional Development
3/19 & 3/20: Virtual Learning Days for Students
3/23: Act 80 Day: No School for Students/Teacher Professional Development
3/24 to 3/27: Virtual Learning Days for Students
I want to emphasize that this system will be new. There may be hiccups in the beginning. I ask for your patience and welcome your feedback as we provide a new avenue for our students to continue their learning. Each building principal will be following up with the parents/guardians in their respective buildings/grade levels with more detailed information regarding how our virtual instructional days will operate.
I want to thank you for your continued patience and support. The District will continue to monitor the situation and update you immediately with any changes that occur related to our District operations.
Thomas W. Ralston
