After Hurricane Ida made landfall down south, her effects were definitely being felt here at Avonworth. Drenching rains led to many school sports cancellations as a result, including cross country. Tuesday’s meet at South Fayette was cancelled, and although practice still took take place on Wednesday, conditions were not ideal.
“I mean, it was pretty relieving, “said Junior Nate Gollings about the cancellation, ” but I did spend a pretty solid week mentally preparing beforehand so it was sort of an odd and slightly disappointing feeling.”
Cross Country still has not yet had their first official meet, however they did have a scrimmage on August 25 against Central Valley and South Side Beaver, with both boys and girls teams earning the win.
