To the delight of many Nittany Lion football fans, Penn State University is again making its way back to the top of the NCAA rankings. With a hard-fought win against Purdue University 35-31 and a crushing victory over Ohio 46-10, Penn State sits at 2-0 and up to #22 out of 25 on the NCAA football rankings in week 2 of the 2022 season.
‘Linebacker U’ has a strong lineup of players. Starting senior quarterback Sean Clifford, #14, holds a powerful 70.4% completion rate. “Sean Clifford can throw a ball and their coach can coach.” says Freshman Tyler Hanny. An impressive group of wide receivers backing them up as well features Mitchell Tinsley, with 111 yards and 2 touchdowns as of week 2.
Fans are excited for the week 3 game, where the Nittany Lions will stare down Auburn University down in Alabama with 61% predicting a win on ESPN.com.
“We’re gonna smoke them. Auburn’s terrible.” said one confident freshman Nittany Lion fan who still wished to remain anonymous. Another freshman, Aiden Strong said “I think they are doing really well, and I think if they keep it up they are going to go far this year.” The game is scheduled for Saturday, September 17th, at 3:30 PM
Fans are also excited for later in the Nittany Lions Season, with one freshman saying that they are in high anticipation for this season. But, even with their new triumphs, this does not mean the season will be a cake-walk. Playing week 6 against Ohio State and week 8 against Michigan, ranked no.3 and no.4 in the NCAA rankings respectively, they will need to work hard to have a truly successful season. Fans are particularly anticipating the game against Michigan, who has been a long time rival on Penn State. “I think Penn State is going to pull an upset this game” said freshman Sam Kline, “Michigan hasn’t played very good teams this far.”
Michigan, who also boasts a record of 2-0 has only beat Penn State twice out of the last 6 times they played.
Being a Penn State fan myself, I think that the season has many interesting prospects and players. Personally, I think that we will beat Auburn standing at 24-21. I also believe that we will beat Michigan, but not Ohio State.
