The first one to make this list is cloud bread. Cloud bread has been around for the past few years, however, it took an uprise this year. It is made up of egg whites, sugar, and cornstarch, then baked for a short amount of time. Many people find it fun and easy to make at home. Freshman Millie McAdams said,” I don’t really like the taste of it, but it was fun making.”
Next up is baked overnight oats. Many influencers made these oats look like deserts like chocolate chip cookies, lava cakes, and brownies. These have less sugar and are more nutrient based. They are a much healthier breakfast item than other sugary meals. On the other hand, some people think that the oats, “look gross.”
Another popular trend this year has been smoothie/acai bowls. These bowls are made up of acai or another type of frozen fruit made up to be a kind of soft-serve texture. They are topped with an assortment of fruit, granola, seeds, nuts, peanut butter, or honey. Junior Janessa Turnball said her favorite part of smoothie bowls is, “the fruits.”

Perfectly round cookies are a big food trend that has popped up this past year. After taking out your warm cookies from the oven, you take a round class and shape the cookie. After doing this, your cookie should seem to be perfectly round.
Dip night is another one to add to this list. Many people will have a dip night with their friends, which consists of every person bringing a different kind of dip to the party. This can consist of veggie, brownie, buffalo chicken, funfetti, and several other kinds of dip. One freshman said,”I had a dip night with my friends once and it was really fun. My favorite part was the French onion dip.”
To end the list, nachos tables became extremely popular this past year. To do this, you put down tin foil on your table then, put your chips and whatever toppings you want. Many put cheese, meat, and an assortment of veggies to complete their nachos. This trend became popular off of TikTok and expanded fast.
Another TikTok 2022 trend: Butter Boards – Butter boards consist of soft butter being spread across a wooden board and topped with ingredients like; sauces, garlic, spices, and fruit. Just like charcuterie boards, butter boards are eaten with bread and crackers.
My personal favorite on this list is either perfectly round cookies or dip night. The perfectly round cookies are extremely useful, especially considering the holiday season is here. I like how dip night is something fun you can do with a group of friends or family and how you can try a variety of different tastes and combinations.
With 2022 coming to an end, these are the food trend that many showed interest in the past year. It was an exciting year with many ups and downs, but these trends added some joy and happiness to many.
