As 2022 comes to an end, the long-awaited Spotify Wrapped has been released. Users eagerly wait each year for the specific summary, strategically customed to their music taste.
On December 1, 2022, Spotify Wrapped was released. The wrapped includes information about listeners’ top songs, artists, and albums from the year prior. Users all across the world share their wrapped on social media and with friends and family, but here at Avonworth, we had difficulty getting students to share the same information.
Freshman Gaby Interthal shared her opinions on Spotify Wrapped; “I think that Spotify Wrapped could be improved by being released halfway through the year. Your music tastes tend to change. I think this is why people are embarrassed to show us their wrapped.”
The top 5 most streamed albums globally include “Un Verano Sin Ti”by Bad Bunny, “Harry’s House” by Harry Styles, “Sour” by Olivia Rodrigo, “=” by Ed Sheeran, and “Planet Her” by Doja Cat.
Freshman Savannah Jimenez explains her stance on the albums, “ I listened to pretty much all of those albums. I liked Harry’s House and I heard Planet Her through TikTok.”
Freshman Cami Intriago explains how she “was surprised that Midnights was not included in this list. Although it was released later in the year, many listeners were taken over by these tracks.”
Taylor Swift’s newest album was not one of the top five globally streamed albums, however, she was the most viral artist globally.
Many people enjoyed Spotify Wrapped including sophomore Emma Obersteiner, “I love it. I like how I can see all my stats. It’s so fun and awesome.”
Sophomore Kendall Stright agrees, “I think it’s interesting to see what I listened to all year. I like being able to see what my friends listened to.”
