2022, like most years, had many positives, many negatives, and many in between. But, no matter positive or negative you can’t deny it being influential and important. Here are 12 things that have made 2022… well 2022.
1. Albums
Music was great this year, I loved a lot of the projects this year. From Rap to Indie to just about anything else. Here are some albums I think hold the highest in my regard:
- Cheat Codes- Black Thought and Danger Mouse
- The Forever Story- JID
- Blue Rev- Alvvays
- The Elephant Man’s Bones- Roc Marciano & The Alchemist
- Melt My Eyez See Your Future- Denzel Curry
2. Movies
Like music, Movies this year were great, some of my favorites being:
- Banshees of Inisherin
- Cha Cha Real Smooth
- The Fabelmans
- Everything Everywhere All at Once
3. Depp vs. Heard
I remember this being all over social media for months, as controversy sparked after the court hearings of Depp and Heard.
4. Steelers
The lack of performance from the Steelers is unusual given our history, but hopefully, our lackluster season will promise better performance next year.
5. Tiktok Culture/Trends
Some crazy things happened on that platform this year, Morbius, Minions, and many others shook the world for weeks and months.
6. No More Covid
This year felt like the first year where Covid wasn’t an issue, which allowed for a lot more freedom.
7. Will Smith Slap
Watching this live was kind of crazy, I had no clue what was going on and why it was happening.
8. Queens Death
It happened during school and everyone stopped what they were doing at the moment, it was kind of surreal.
9. Top Gun: Maverick
This movie had a chokehold on the world for months and it was surprising yet very cool.
10. Songs
Like albums there were a lot of great songs, here are some of my favorites:
- No Gold Teeth- Black Though and Danger Mouse
- Walkin- Denzel Curry
- Tile by Tile- Alvvays
- Stars- JID (Ft. Yasiin Bey)
- Count Me Out- Kendrick Lamar
11. Apple Music Rewind
I got over 1000 hours, which I was proud of.
