Things I liked:
Flying to a country that I have never been to alone was making me excited and nervous. I had to be really independent. In the airport police having their guns on the side was surprising to me. I really recommend to talk(at least a short conversation) to people you are sitting next to in the plane. That way it is not boring for a long flight and you can practice using English.
After I arrived: The thing that I most enjoyed was going to Kennywood on a fright night and the pumpkin patch. It is hard to see the pumpkin patch in Korea, so it was surprising to see all the pumpkins including species that I have never seen before. Also, we do Halloween decorations in amusement parks too, but the smokes and people scaring people (the scare zone) was new to me. I really recommend people to try Primanti because it is delicious.
- Making many new friends
I made really good friends here. Going Homecoming, trick or treating, having sleep over, a Christmas party, and hanging around with them was fun. I was surprised they were all so nice. They really helped me adjust to American culture. I really recommend hanging around with friends on Friday night. That’s the best.
- Not wearing a mask
I was wearing a mask for over two years, so I was so happy to get rid of the mask and meet people as usual. In Korea, we still wear masks to school, but people rarely wearing a mask was surprising to me.
- World Cup
The World Cup is always exciting to watch soccer and to cheer for teams that I want. This year the World Cup had many unexpected things which made it more interesting.
- Summer vacation in Florida
Sanibel Island in general was so beautiful, but especially, the beach with sunlight and Emerald color of the water. Spending time swimming or biking was my favorite part. Also, the fact that sharks appear sometimes made me nervous the whole time. I really recommend Florida as a vacation spot with your family because it is a great place to relax and chill.
- Tetris
I was obsessed on Tetris this year.
