In the holiday season of 2022, the Avonworth Red Cross Club has been busy spreading holiday cheer this season.
The Red Cross Club has been busy making cards for veterans from Western PA and by putting together tote bins full of food and clothes for homeless vets’. The club went down to Avonworth Primary Center and had all students from grades K-2 make cards for veterans.

For students in Kindergarten, there were pre-made templates for the students to color in, but for students in grades 1 and 2, they had to make their own designs. “I don’t have a specific connection to veterans, but I think it is important to reach out to all different types of people. If you have that capacity, you should,” said Gbemi Odebode, co-founder and student leader of the Red Cross Club.
At the same time as this, the Red Cross Club has organized Totes for Hope, a program where they organize tote bins full of supplies for homeless people.
