Standout seniors Nora Kate, Layne Shinsky, Victoria Huffymer, junior Sidney Shields, and the rest of the Lady Lopes once again start the state playoff run against undefeated Philipsburg-Oscecola. After a long run in WPIAL’s before losing to Freeport in the semi-finals, all of the players have worked exceptionally hard this season.
The girls’ volleyball `team played on October 25th against Ellwood City, the girls won their playoff game with a score of 3-1.
The girls have great team chemistry and are always supporting each other, says Sophomore Jada Taylor, “ I think that we have a very strong team and that if we all work as one we can WIPS.” The team’s current goal for the rest of their season is to win WPIALS and finish their season stronger than ever. These girls have extraordinary athletic talent and are a great team that should be recognized for their hard work from the past season. The drive for this team’s success and dedication is recognizable when watching them play.”
The opponent in the first round of the PIAA”s is the same opponent from 2021 and 2022, Philipsburg-Osceola Area, and in particular, senior Reese Hazelton, listed 6’2 on Max Preps.

“From watching her play (in the past two years of playoffs) she is obviously an incredible player; however, I personally think that not one person can carry a team to a win. She’s a tough opponent to beat but not an impossible one.” said Mia Milojevic, junior.
