Junior Emma Noss added onto her writing accomplishments at Avonworth by finishing in first place for the 2024 PA Scholar Ben Franklin Essay Competition and the Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Essay Competition. Emma earned $6000 from the PA Society for her 750 word essay on a quotation from Ben Franklin. She was recognized for that accomplishment by Mr. Tuffiash and also by Ms. Pauline Duncan from the Western PA Red Cross Chapter during the Awards Assembly on April 25th.
Emma won a state championship in Newspaper News Writing as a sophomore, competing on behalf of The Avonews for the PA School Press state championships at Penn State in spring 2023.
In addition, Emma was the editor in chief for Fragments, which published its annual literary magazine this week.
