Avonworth and Western PA managed to stay clear of Tornados that hit across the Ohio border, but strong storms still impacted sports and activities in early April. AHS Drama was in the building at the time for set strike to end the run of Into the Woods.
On Tuesday evening, April 2nd, Dr. Hadley sent the following message to the community:
Evening Activities Canceled- 4/2/24
Good Evening Avonworth School District Community,
The Ohio Township Police Department reached out to alert me of current road conditions due to the excessive amount of rain we have received and the high likelihood of road closures in our area when the next storm front comes through this evening.
Due to the possibility of road closures this evening and for everyone’s safety, all Avonworth School District evening activities past 5:30 PM are canceled this evening, April 2, 2024.
I will continue to be in contact with the Ohio Townsip Police tomorrow morning for updates on road accessiblility and closures. If road conditions or closures will create issues for transportation in the morning, a message will be sent to inform you of any modifications to the school day tomorrow.
Have a safe evening!
Jeffrey M. Hadley, Ed.D.
