Thanks to Editor-In-Chief Zion Schenk, pictured bottom left with oncoming editor-in-chief Emma Noss, for many many unexpected hours of layout and editing to bring The Avonews back into print!
For the first time since 2019-2020, students could read The Avonews in print throughout the year and in the glossy Senior edition started by the 2020-2021 staff. Zion navigated unexpected corrupted files right before the print deadline, as well as moving the pub lab from room 306 to 209, downsizing in computers and counter space, and switching between printers and formats.
A final meeting, held outside the new library – without climate control in the “pub lab”, spells of hot weather causes rooms to remain around 80 degrees in the spring. Construction over the summer of 2024 is scheduled to include heating and air conditioning improvements.Zion, layout editor Elle Wagers, and Emma working on the 2nd edition in January 2024, published in February. First edition of the Avonews assembled in the new pub lab location inside room 209.
Avonews mural from the pub lab at the beginning of the year in room 308 – created by Kyra Carlson and Zoe Trexel. Renovations included painting over this mural before Ms. Wahl and Ms. Wickert moved in late in March 2024.
Pub Lab bulletin board and counter space in 308, used for the first issue by staff to start 2023-2024. Cleaned out before December 20th move.
Part of the room move to 209 included downsizing two computers and the printer/scanner, seen left from 308.
