Schedules for 2024-2025 Distributed In LEAD

Thursday May 16th featured the usual mid-May events. Keystone tests, a field trip, class projects. But in 2024, it also included student schedules being distributed in LEAD, a bump about two weeks earlier then normal. 

Students recieved draft schedules, sometimes with double or triple booked classes in the same Mod – an indication that these schedules are drafts and each student must meet with Como or Levis to solidify course options. Students selected courses electronically in a two week window leading up to spring break in March, and then administration selected teachers to fill the student requests for courses.

Reactions ranged from excitement to frustration and confusion. 

Juniors Nick Veleke, Reese Theobold and Elena Zimmerman kindly offered to overreact after they saw their schedules during LEAD in Mr. Tuffiash’s room on Thursday May 16th.

The scheduling process in 2023-2024 worked on a different time-table, like many administrative and academic parts of a regular school year. Friday May 31st is the last day of the 23-24 year, about a week earlier then most years, due to the HS campus being closed all summer to complete more renovations.

Students attended a 9th/10th or 11th/12 grade overview of scheduling led by Mr. Como on Thursday, March 7th. Sessions were held during the new time slot of 27 minutes each for 9/10 and 11/12 for LEAD. When the concept started in 2016-2017, LEAD was held from 8 AM to 8:40.

 

Mr. Como speaking to Mr. Tuffiash 11th grade LEAD section around 11 AM on Monday, March 18th. In his first year as 11th and 12th grade counselor, Mr. Como continued his responsibility to coordinate and present course options to the student body. Mr. Levis shifted to 9th and 10th grade counselor, and new staff member Dr. Lisa Maloney joined as a Future Ready Coordinator. Due to the campus being closed for construction over the summer, starting June 1, Como and Levis began e-mailing and meeting with students quickly in mid-May.
