Producing two full-length shows per year (one straight play in the fall and one musical in the spring), AHS Theatre has reached noticeable accomplishments in the 2000’s, including multiple Kelly Award winners, sellout show runs, and graduates who continue into professional careers.
However, due to auditorium renovations which started late spring 2024, there are some major changes that the students, as well as theater director Deborah Frauenholz, must face throughout the next few months regarding the rehearsals and performances of Twelve Angry Jurors, the fall play for the 2024-2025 season.
Because of the construction, the Drama department will be taking their show down the road and will be performing at the Ben Avon Presbyterian Church.
“I think we’re absolutely fortunate that we have a host institution in our school district, charging us nothing, and being super accommodating.” said Frauenholz about the alternate location.
However, because of the new confined space, Frauenholz had to be careful about which show they should pick. They came upon a very simple and very exciting decision: 12 Angry Jurors. This show takes place in a single room that seldom changes, which was a very convenient choice given the circumstances.
The first rehearsal took place on Monday, October 7th, and the shows are to take place from November 14th through 17th, as well as November 22nd through 24th.
