A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder- This suspenseful mystery based on the best-selling book by Holly Jackson follows high school senior Pippa Fitz-Amobi as she tries to solve her hometown’s biggest question; who killed Andie Bell? The show incorporates adventure, secrets, romance, and even a thrilling climax. Starring Emma Myers and Zain Iqbal, this British show has been renewed for another season, and filming will begin in early 2025.
Nobody Wants This- This lighthearted comedy captures the love story between a podcaster, Joanne, and a rabbi, Noah. An unexpected pair, they navigate awkward family encounters and expectations, religious identity and morality, and the concept of finding “true love” later in life. Director Erin Foster created the show based on her real-life love story with her husband, Simon Tikhman. Season two has been greenlit, and is set to release in late 2025.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives This reality TV show follows a group of eight Utah-based TikTok influencers, commonly referred to as “MomTok”. In 2022, influencer Taylor Frankie Paul went viral for sharing how she and her husband were “soft-swinging”, also called wife-swapping, with other Mormon couples, creating the buzz that sparked the idea for the show. Exploring polygamy, scandal, religion, and family, the show is only lacking in faux content, becoming the “most-watched unscripted season premiere of 2024” (Wikipedia). Production on season 2 began in October 2024 and is set to come out in the spring of 2025.
Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage: A spin-off show centered in the universe of the Big Bang Theory and more closely connected to the prequel Young Sheldon, this show follows Georgie and Mandy through their journey into married life and the struggles and joys that come with it. The show aired in October 2024 with new episodes released weekly until December 2024, reaching 7 episodes in its first season so far. The show will return to CBS on Thursday, January 30th to continue its first, extremely successful season.
Monsters- The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story: The creators of the show Monster: The Dahmer Story created a spin-off show regarding the true story of brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez. Told from multiple perspectives, the show centers specifically on when the brothers shot their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, and consequently, their trials. The show mentions topics of abuse, trauma, and most gravely, murder. Quickly becoming a hit, Monsters had trending audio and video clips across all social media platforms, mainly TikTok. The next season of Monsters is set to be focused on suspected serial killer and American murderer, Ed Gein.
Love Island: Season 5 of this romantic reality show was released to the public on June 11th, 2024. The show is based around a group of single, young, socially considered attractive people secluded on an island attempting to remain on the island by pairing up in male-female duos. Those not in couples for “recoupling” ceremonies are dumped from the island and forced to go home, while the eventual winners of the show are awarded $100,000 that they can choose to keep or share with their partner. Drama, betrayal, and glamour maintain the show’s popularity, as season 6 is set to release in January of 2025.
Outer Banks season 4: The newest season of Outer Banks wrenched the hearts of viewers nationwide. The drama within the show was heightened to the finale, and we won’t give any spoilers, but you might want to grab some tissues before you click “Play”.The new season continues the story of the Pogues and their adventures throughout the Outer Banks. There is suspense, there is humor, and it is an entertaining season. The fifth and final season has yet to go into production, but will most likely be released in late 2025 or early 2026.
Cobra Kai: The sixth and final season of the successful show Cobra Kai was released on July 18th, 2024. The show examines the Karate Kid narrative from the perspective of Johnny Lawrence as he decides to reopen the Cobra Kai dojo to train a group of socially outcast adolescents. Featuring new and old characters, the show still follows the members of the Cobra Kai and their adventures throughout daily life and the dojo. With action, uncertainty, and even death, the show begins to wrap up in a way that draws in viewers young and old. The finale is set to release on February 13, 2025.
Heartstopper: Season 3 of this coming-of-age romantic comedy follows Nick and Charlie as their relationship develops. They grow closer to each other while exploring friendships and their mental health. Based on the graphic novel series written by bestselling author Alice Oseman, the show is an extremely popular adaptation of these books. The fourth and final season is currently under consideration by Netflix and is not yet confirmed.
Yellowstone: the much-awaited 5th season of the hit show aired in late 2024, earning an 83% rating from Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.6/10 from IMDb. It was nothing short of dramatic as it follows a family of ranchers defending their land from land developers, an Indian reservation, and a national park. They have to juggle the social and political struggles of a corrupt world in Montana while managing their own family. It’s available on Hulu for viewing now.
