Interview with Grace Bechtold

Grace Bechtold is a student at Avonworth in the class of 2025 and is best known for being a nice Avonettes captain before she attends Pitt next fall. We discussed the future, food, and more – here are a few highlights from our conversation.

Avonews: Can water get more wet?

Grace Bechtold: Yes because water is already wet and when you add more water to it it just continues to get wet.

Avonews: If water is already wet how does it get more wet? It is the definition of “wet.”

Grace Bechtold: Well when you keep adding water it’s getting more wet. It’s not adding more water it’s adding more wet. Like say if the water is on you, the more water that gets on you the more wet you get because the more water that’s on you.

Avonews: Do you think there is a bug out there that hasn’t been found yet that you will name?

Grace Bechtold: No, because I don’t like bugs. They kinda scare me.

Avonews: If there was a bug out there at hadn’t been named yet what would you name it?

Grace Bechtold: I would name it the Sigma Bug.

Avonews: What is your Starbucks order?

Grace Bechtold: I like the Strawberry Acai but with light ice because it increases the flavor. I like a Pink Drink with Vanilla Sweat Cream Cold Foam, and I like a chia too.

Avonews: Where are you going to college?

Grace Bechtold: I’m going to The University of Pittsburgh. I’m majoring in psychology and I have guaranteed admission for occupational therapy.

Avonews: What would you name your therapy business?

Grace Bechtold: I wouldn’t have a business. I would be working for someone else.

Avonews: What is your favorite TikTok meme of 2024?

Grace Bechtold: I really like the purple heart memes.

Avonews: All of them?

Grace Bechtold: Ya.

Avonews: I like the slick press one.

Avonews: What is your favorite animal?

Grace Bechtold: My favorite animal is a penguin or a dolphin.

Avonews: Any reason why?

Grace Bechtold: When I was younger my mom bought me a stuffed animal from the Zoo and it was a pink penguin, but then she gave it away.

Avonews: What about the dolphin?

Grace Bechtold: I just always liked dolphins. But when she gave away my stuffed animal I made her feel bad and she bought me another one off of eBay a couple of years ago. Her name is Gloria.
