girls’ basketball:
The Avonworth Girls’ Basketball 2024-25 season is off to a great start. The Lady Lopes currently hold an overall record of 8-4 and a conference record of 4-0, with a recent victory against East Allegheny with an impressive score of 43-1. The team seniors are Emma Obersteiner, Anna Bradley, Greta O’Brien, and Sydney Savatt, and they all captain the team.
boys’ basketball :
Current overall record of 11-1, still undefeated in their section. The team also won their most recent game on January 14th at Beaver, which was a payback victory for Avonworth. The seniors on the team are Nico Neal and captains Rowan Carmichael, Billy Onyshko, Noah Quinn, and Noah Goetz.
hockey:
The Avonworth Hockey Team started this year with an impressive 12-4-1 overall record, with key wins against rivals North Catholic and North Hills.
unified bocce:
next upcoming game being against Chartiers Valley on January 31st at 4pm.
swimming :
From Reese Theobald, ‘25: “We did have a very exciting home meet recently against Shadyside, many girls made their WPIAL times and we ended up winning by only two points.”
wrestling:
Update: At Carlynton Wednesday afternoon, the boys won their match 32-30 to qualify as a team for playoffs. Tournament Friday in Grove City and Pine-Richland Duels also ahead, and then playoffs start.
