At just 15 years old, British popstar Freya Skye placed fifth overall in the Junior Eurovision contest(think the voice but European and much bigger) and came first in the online global public vote. A massive achievement for someone the same age, if not younger than most of us at AHS, she is now part of the Disney universe and will be in Pittsburgh with the Descendants/Zombies tour this August.
One of her recent tracks, “Can’t Fake It”, brought in 315,000 streams on Spotify, a massive number for such a young artist. Her newest single, “Who I thought I Knew”, has already amassed 60,000 views on YouTube after only 2 days. So what’s important to know about “Can’t Fake It” and “Who I Thought I Knew”?
When and why would you listen to “Can’t Fake it”: As an upbeat hi-tempo and hype song, “Can’t Fake it” is great for in the car with friends to get an energetic vibe and for listening by yourself to be put into a good mood. With a full Disney radio production quality, it is a positive and empowering song for all to listen to catch a vibe.
When and why would you listen to “Who I thought I knew”: On the flip side, “Who I Thought I Knew” is more of a piano driven ballad, reflecting on one’s now broken relationship. This song is ideal for when you’re “in your feels” and want something to pertain to your sadder emotions. Good to listen to after a breakup or an evening song just to chill.
Listen to Freya Skye if you like: Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams. Plan ahead, too, if you want to see her live at PPG in August.
