Why do people buy tickets early? Who’s in a rush to secure a spot? When can you get one? And most of all, why does it matter so much? It may not seem overly significant, and at Avonworth, there aren’t frequent die-hard ticket buyers; most fans buy on the fly. Yet every ticket remains a journey as that slip of paper turns into a synchronized roar of pride, motivation, and much more.
People buy tickets early to secure a date, avoid a potential sellout, get the best seats, and obtain the best price. But why do people buy tickets early at Avonworth? Parents and families make up the majority of online purchases. They go for the seasonal passes that cover individual sports (Soccer, Football, Volleyball), or family and individual passes that include the entirety of the fall sports scene. On the other end, students typically opt to grab tickets from Mrs. Kline in the school’s athletic office, using their royalty of $2 value instead of the $5 gate cost. The athletic office’s hours through the week are 9 AM to 1 PM, so pay Mrs. K and Hi and a Bye to win a discount.
Early in the week, fans settle their digital passes. But Thursdays and Fridays are usually the big days in school, students zip about during lead and lunch before the final fans arrive to see the Friday night kickoff.
Hundreds and Hundreds of tickets get sold throughout the seasons, and thousands throughout the year. To Fans, buying a ticket is like a commitment; you’re setting yourself up for an immersive and proud experience, to give spirit to the courts and fields of student athletes. Some just like to watch the games; it’s certainly entertaining to see the breakthroughs and immense improvement of our programs lately. Either way, in the players’ eyes, it’s not that simple. Everybody out there has a reason, but it doesn’t mean they don’t hear, so you should pay attention next time to every scream, every cheer, every chant, synchronized or not, every sign held up. That type of energy is what makes underdogs into leaders, the united yells and cries of the fans is the purpose of a ticket, because it gives the purpose to go beyond, being #1 doesn’t mean if it isn’t seen.
Ticket sale revenue goes right back into the athletic department’s game day expenses including your security, payment for officials and staff, as well as any emergency and back into our athletes equipment, facilities, and other program improvements. Coaches and Athletes get to see the direct impact of their hard work, when you buy a ticket you’re investing in the quality, safety, and fairness of the game you love.
Remember that every ticket is a spark that leads to the fiery gameplay, the team huddles and celebrations. So give it your all for our teams because they’ll give it their all for themselves too. To all fans, thank you, and students at AHS, remember, the experience is just about priceless.
