Virtual Day From Snowy Weather Extends Time At Home After Thanksgiving Break 2025

Students woke up to snowy roads, cold temperatures, and a virtual day on Tuesday, December 2nd. Here is what the day on Chromebooks and Google Meet looked like for many students, including time with pets, snacks, relaxing settings, and a switch from classrooms and desks. Snow days often call for some extra dog-love! Ginger, a 5-year-old boxer, was more than excited to be accompanied at home.
The bright white snow covered the roofs of houses and the grass in yards. The roads were not always as clear as they are pictured above; snowplows had to come out early in the morning to pave openings for cars.
The school day that took place on December 2nd looked quite different than most. Class times were significantly shorter and certain periods were out of order.December 2nd marked Avonworth’s first snow day of the school year! Information regarding virtual classes and after-school clubs was provided to students via email.

He drove in to use the copiers, which ended up malfunctioning and not being operational all.Slippery Mermaid Sushi, a treat for members of the graduating class of 2026 – a few decided to get together and enjoy a nice meal, since these days are the last before they head separate ways after June.
Many people in neighborhoods were trying to do normal everyday activities with the extra hardship of the snow.The Ohio Township Light up night was the same day as the Snow Day. They had many activities including an Ice Sculptor and AHS student council was part of the event.Most areas throughout Pittsburgh got around 3-4 inches of snow on Tuesday.High School Student’s classes were shortened to 25 minutes because of the two hour delay, including Journalism 1 for Mod A at the start of the day.For Avonworth, the virtual day was the first major snow day of the year; for Heather, who is only six months old, the virtual day was her first time seeing snow.The winter weather may have made the roads more treacherous, but the dusting of snow allowed for a festive start to December.Since students didn’t have to log onto a Google Meet for LEAD, they had more time to cook a proper lunch.Virtual days allow students such as Nate Parker, a junior, to multitask. Whether or not such multitasking is efficient (for schoolwork or gameplay) remains to be seen.
