With a win on Sunday over the Baltimore Orioles, the Pittsburgh Pirates extend their win streak to 5 games. With stellar hitting performances from new guys like Ryan O’Hearn and Brandon Lowe, this team’s offense has started to come alive from the first couple of games of the season.
This past Thursday, the Pirates brought up MLB’s #1 prospect, 19-year-old Konnor Griffin, to then make his Major League debut on Friday, April 3rd, 2026. The home opener saw a sellout crowd where manager Don Kelly said after the game felt like a playoff game with the type of atmosphere that was inside the stadium. Fans packed out to see the #1 prospect, and fans were pleased with what they saw. In Konnor’s first big league at-bat, he lined a double into the left-center gap that kick-started a 4-run inning for the Buccos.
After a slow start the team started rallying behind an orange traffic cone that they hoist after a big hits, with fans stating the phrase “Hoist the Cone.”
Many fans who walked from the Northside saw that Acrisure Stadium has been blocked off and the costrution for the NFL Draft is well underway. With about 3 weeks until the draft many fans are gearing up for an exciting week of football.
