After Rory’s breakthrough win last year at the Masters, many fans are wondering who’s going to take the Green Jacket this year. Is it going to be Scottie Scheffler, two-time champion in ’22 and ’24? Bryson DeChambeau, who has won 2 times on the LIV Golf tour this year and playing some of his best golf since his 2024 U.S. Open win. Could it even be a dark-horse contender like Akshay Bhatia? Or even last year’s runner-up Justin Rose? So many guys in this field have a chance to win it.
Outside of the actual play on the links, the Masters is known as the most prestigious golf tournament in the world, with course rules like ‘no cell phones on the property‘ and ‘no running whatsoever‘ (besides the players). Even the broadcasters have rules, like calling fans ‘patrons‘ and referring to the rough as ‘the second cut‘.
Augusta National also profits significantly from The Masters through merchandise, as they rack in $70 million within a week. That can equal out to $10 million just in merch per day within the tournament week. One of the hot ticket merch items every year is the masters themed garden gnome. Its the first item to sell out each year, due to them only making 1,000 every year.
Just like everything else the Masters also does food very well. As they have kept the same original prices that it has been since the inaguration of this tournament. Keeping the Pimento Cheese and Egg Salad sandwhiches at just $1.50 and a BBQ sandwhich at just $3. This is why so many people spend a ton of money on merch because they know teh food is so cheap, but so good.
