Adolesence
Adolescence is a four-episode drama starring Owen Cooper. An amazing quick watch with approximately a 60-minute episode time. Set in a town in the Doncaster area of Yorkshire, England. The show was shot in one single take. To summarize the show, a 13-year-old boy is being charged with the murder of one of his classmates, and his family must figure out how to manage. The police are searching to try to find enough evidence to try the young boy. They must find out if Jamie killed the girl and why he would do it.
Ninth grader Dylan Puck, said, “I would rate [Adolescence] a 5/5 because it is interesting, Jamie has an interesting back story, and the actor who plays him, Owen Cooper, is amazing”. The show won eight Emmys in September of 2025. As of December of 2025, Netflix has not announced season 2. Many have come to love the show, including Dylan, but the film make strike some red flags for some watchers. The show is TV-MA rated and discusses mature topics.
Dance Moms
Dance Moms is a reality show about a team of young dancers and, more specifically, their mothers. Their coach, Abby Lee Miller, is known for being loud, abrasive, and even rude to the girls and their mothers. Miller teaches the girls a group routine, as well as a handful of solos, duets, or trios, each week to perform at a competition. The girls have strenuous schedules, as they have a competition every weekend until they go to their national competition. Their mothers often fight with each other and with Miller as they attempt to help their kids succeed in such a busy environment. The show has remained within the public sphere of teenagers for years, as the drama is captivating and Miller’s wit is often quoted. Especially since Miller’s studio was in Pittsburgh’s very own Penn Hills, Dance Moms is typically popular with Pittsburgh students such as ourselves.
Grey’s Anatomy
Grey’s Anatomy is a fast-paced medical show featuring characters who work at Seattle Grace Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Being 22 seasons long, it is an easy show to jump in and watch any episode. Generally, viewers tend to be more interested in the medical field, while others may just watch for entertainment. Haley Dzadovsky, 10th, stated that she was “medicine and healthcare,” so she thought the show would be a good watch. Along with the plot, many characters stand out to fans. Meredith Grey is the center of attention, as her mother, Ellis Grey, was a famous surgeon who also worked at Seattle Grace. Meredith has a high intelligence and is very resilient. Her trauma, past, and relationship with coworker Derek Shepherd are what keep fans interested in her story. Kate Paulat, 9th, said she would “rewatch Grey’s Anatomy all the time”. Many viewers agree that they would rewatch the show, as it is an easy-to-watch show.
Modern Family
Modern Family is a popular mockumentary sitcom about three diverse families. The families are connected, for instance, the mom of the Dunphys family (Claire) is the sister of Mitchell, who’s a part of the Pritchet-Tucker-Pritchetts family. The show is heartfelt, funny, and, for most, realistic. The show, known for its documentary-style filming, stars Ed O’Neill, Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Eric Stonestreet. The characters have great dynamics, while also showing diverse personalities. Haley Dunphy, who’s popular, fashion-focused, and can be described as an “it girl,” is the exact opposite of her sister. Her younger sister, Alex, is highly intelligent, a little awkward, and sarcastic. The show has lots of great characters where viewers are sure to find their comfort in at least one of them. The series ran for 11 years, concluding in April 2020, with creators planning its end to provide a proper send-off for the beloved characters. The show is one of the best re-watches, full of joy and laughter.
Outer Banks
Outer Banks, a classic teen drama, is the perfect rewatch for anyone this year. This 4 season production features many dynamic characters; the main characters being John B, Sarah Cameron, JJ, Pope, and Kiara. Set in the perfect town of the Outer Banks, North Carolina, the main characters, otherwise known as the “Pogues”, set out on a treasure hunt. The Pogues are the lower class, while the “Kooks” are the upper class in the town. Surrounding the premise of this show, the development inclines many viewers to keep watching, wondering what will happen next in the plot. Although the first four seasons provide much entertainment for viewers, including myself, the cliffhanger at the end of season four leaves many people wanting more. Charlotte Klingenberg, 9th, exclaims her frustration with the end of season four: “I feel like there needs to be another season because it was left off on a cliffhanger.” Besides just the plot, many characters are deeply appreciated by us viewers. One character in particular that I appreciate is Kiara. She comes from a rich family and lives on the Kooks side of town. Kiara has always rejected the lifestyle she was born into and consistently runs with the Pogues. She supports saving the earth and protects her friends when needed. She remains true to herself by sticking up for her friends, which her parents do not approve of. This show is the perfect rewatch for teens in 2025, as it depicts adventure mixed with friendship and loyalty. You could say the show is like…paradise on earth.
Stranger Things
The Duffer Brothers really hit viewers with a good show. Stranger Things, a horror drama, is set in the so-called quiet town of Hawkins, Indiana. The main characters, Will Byers, Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, and Dustin Henderson, form a party in which they play a game called Dungeons and Dragons. Dungeons and Dragons, also known as D&D, is the root of the entire show. All of the main antagonists are named after D&D characters. The antagonists come from another. dimension, called the Upside Down. The Upside Down is a mirror image of the real town of Hawkins, yet it is dark and full of terrible creatures. The main character, Will Byers, is the center of the show in the first series, as he is taken to the Upside Down. The show features much friendship among the party, as well as them working together with others to escape the wrath of the creatures from the Upside Down. Fans love the show, and the Duffer Brothers have officially announced the release dates for the final season. The first four episodes came out on November 26, 2025. The wait is dreadful for viewers, but episodes five through eight come out on December 25, 2025. The finale will be out on Netflix, also in theatres, on December 31, 2025. Much excitement remains as viewers are on edge for these last few episodes. As we wait for these next couple of episodes, it would be a good catch-up show, as almost everyone knows and loves the aspects put into this film. All actors portray these characters incredibly well, but a few in particular seem to stick out. Olivia Hanlon, 10th, likes “how well bonded Steve and Dustin are. They are a dynamic duo that sticks out among the characters”. Many fans enjoy what they have seen in the friendship between Steve and Dustin. They have grown together, strengthening their bond and helping them defend their crew from the dangers of the Upside Down. Stranger Things has been all the buzz lately, and everyone is watching. Get ready to rewatch and prepare for one last adventure.
The Office
The Office is an easy laugh at any time. The office is a show where you can jump in almost any episode and understand the plot. The show is about a paper company, Dunder Mifflin, and the lives that the employees live in and outside the office. The main character, and unforgettable boss, Michael Scott, is a hallarus. One student claimed, “The Office is my favorite show of all time. I would see it on TV when I was a little younger, and I thought it looked cool. The actors in it are hilarious, and I would rate it a 4.7/5. [And my favorite characters] Jim or Michael” (Luke Janicki). A fun fact, according to the cast, Creed in real life was most like his character. The show makes several inappropriate jokes, but that makes the iconic film.
