In March of 2026, the Feminist Student Union gets a board in the hallway next to Miss David’s room.

For some quick background, the Feminist Student Union is a club focused on making a welcoming environment for girls in the high school. The club aims to empower others and engage in self-care through the activities they do during meetings.

Fortunately, the Journalism 2 class had the opportunity to talk to one of the club’s co-founders, Lily Stefanik.
“We figured that since it’s Women’s History Month, we should have a billboard,” said Stefanik for why they decided to use the billboard now. The billboard is outside of English Teacher Miss David’s room, 532, and she serves as faculty sponsor.
“We created that so that people have the resources, they know what is going on, and for advertisement purposes, ” said Lily. “People don’t know how to join the club, so this should make it easier.”

According to Lily, the club plans to “keep updating the Woman of the Month, Media of the Month, and resources when we do food drives and menstrual drives.” So, the board will have information about women that the club members find interesting and inspiring, recommended books, movies, and music, as well as resources that students at Avonworth High School can use.

If you are interested in attending club meetings, please reach out to Lily Stefanik, Lyla Sebeck, Miss David, or check the billboard.
