In a surprising turn of news, on November 16, 2016, Principal Emily Clare announced to the staff of Avonworth that she will be resigning this coming winter break.
After recently accepting the job position as High School/Curriculum Director at West Middlesex School District, she promises to help with the transition of the new coming principal.
“I hope you will understand my decision to accept this position closer to home, as time with our children goes by so quickly,” Clare wrote to the staff in her email. Clare lives nearly an hour from Avonworth High School and does not get to see her children in the morning and upon attending school events, does not see them very much in the evening. “I am looking forward to having a 15-minute commute to work,” Clare says. “I am also excited about serving a community that is close to my own home.”
She also says that she will miss everything about Avonworth and that she “love[s] the Avonworth School District” before then adding “I really do look forward to following the successes of the district.” Clare says that she anticipates starting at the new school this coming January of 2017.
“I could not have asked for a better support system from the community, staff and the school board.” Clare wrote while closing out her email. “Avonworth School District will remain a special place to me.”
