As the Pitt Panthers are preparing to take on Northwestern at the Pinstripe Bowl on December 28th there is a new headline circulating this football team, James Conner’s announcement. James Conner has made one of the more memorable impacts on this team since Larry Fitzgerald was a Panther in the early 2000’s.
Last year at this time Conner was in the fight of his life battling leukemia, now one year later he’s had a 1000 yard rushing season and has helped this Pitt team reach eight wins on the season and looking forward to win number nine.
A lot of people outside Pittsburgh were counting out Conner when they heard of the diagnosis, plus the first game of the season last year he suffered a torn ACL which ended his season so the odds were stacked. But Conner didn’t quit even after his chemotherapy sessions in the winter and spring he would still practice with his team. And his strength and courage definitely showed on the field this season
Now fast forward to present time as James Conner has officially declared for the NFL Draft and everybody in Pittsburgh is pulling for him to do great in the NFL and show how hard he worked to get to this point in his career.
