Since this is my final sports beat ever as a student at Avonworth it’s time to speak the truth about Pittsburgh sports. I’ve learned that the Pirates weren’t as bad as everybody thought they were since in my first two years in high school they made the playoffs.
Also that the Steelers can’t win important games even when they have one of the most loaded offenses in the NFL.
I’ve also come to the conclusion that Sidney Crosby is the greatest hockey player in the last 25 years, also that Phil Kessel is a Stanley Cup champion.
The Pitt Panthers are a different subject as year in and year out I root for them and hoping they have a breakthrough season with like ten to twelve wins but the highest win total they’ve had since I came into high school is eight. Hopefully I don’t have to say the same thing ten years from now, but its Pitt football so all I can do is dream about a successful season.
These four years of Pittsburgh sports have been a blast as I’ve seen some heartbreaking losses and bittersweet victories. But most of all is that Pittsburgh sticks together win or lose and after a sports season there’s always something to look forward in a different sport in the city, whether its signing Phil Kessel to a Stanley Cup winning team or that Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and Ben Roethlisberger still trying to win that seventh Lombardi trophy. I’ve always been a Pittsburgh sports fan and always will and I feel that the best is yet to come, but for sure I’ve seen some of the best moments in Pittsburgh sports history.
