Spring sports have gotten off to a good start this year, with baseball, softball, and track all starting their seasons with success.
The baseball team is currently 5-1, with their biggest win against Sto Rox. Their game against Sto Rox was an amazing 3-inning win 18 to 1! First baseman Sophomore Sean McAleer said that the team was “meeting expectations” for the season. Sean establishes that the team’s goal is to make WPIAL’s and win, and that “the largest obstacle isn’t another team, just our team playing up to the best of its ability.”
The softball team’s record is a powerful 7-0, successfully beating one of their “biggest rivals,” Ellwood City, as Sophomore softball player Leah Logan states. This big win on Thursday, April 4th ended with a score of 9-3. The softball team is currently ranked 3rd in the Pennsylvania Class 3A section, just behind Philipsburg-Osceola and Holy Redeemer. The team is also ranked 9th on the Trib Top 10 Power Rankings for the WPIAL’s.
The track team’s season has gotten off to a good start, with Senior Hayden Robinson stating their record as 2-0. Junior Lauren Pflueger says that the track team’s current focus is “prep and workouts for invites, WPIAL’s, and States.”
