This year the MLB had some outstanding athletes who are continuously improving their stats and breaking new records. 5) Freddie Freeman – LA Dodgers
Freeman had a batting average of 0.325 and an on-base percentage of 0.407. In the year he was a consistent reliable hitter and fielder. In 2021 he was on the Atlanta Braves when they won the World Series. This season was his first year with the Dodgers as he was offered a six-year, $162 million contract. In 612 games he had 117 hits, helping his team secure a playoff spot.
4) Jose Altuve – Houston Astros
After being on the very controversial World Series-winning team in 2017, his baseball performance has been very successful. His batting average was .300 with an on-base percentage of .387. He plays a key and vital role for the Astros as he is also the shortstop for the team. He was able to use his skill and lead his team to not only the playoffs but to winning the 2022 World Series.
3) Paul Goldschmidt – St. Louis Cardinals
At number 3 is Paul Goldschmidt for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals have been a consistent team throughout the past few years as Goldschmidt has been with the team since 2019. He made his MLB debut in 2011 with the Arizona Diamond Backs and was with the team from 2011-2018. His batting average this season was .317 and his on-base percentage was .404. The team made it to the post-season this year but lost to the Philadelphia Phillies who later placed 2nd in the World Series.
2) Yordan Alvarez – Houston Astros
Alvarez is a lefty hitter who primarily is a DH. He throws right and is one of the outfielders on the team. His batting average is .306 and his on-base percentage is .406. Yordan is only 25 years old with a huge, successful career ahead of him. He made his MLB debut in 2019 playing for the Astros as he has not been involved with any trading this early on in his career. 1) Aaron Judge – New York Yankees
Aaron Judge has been a well-known, respected, and star athlete for years. He was selected as the American League Rookie of the Year in 2017 as Judge is only 30 years old. His batting average was .311 and his on-base percentage was .425. Judge had the most home runs this season with 62. Nearing the end of 2022 there were rumors of trade offers and Judge switching teams, but after the talk, Judge is remaining with the Yankees. As a star left-fielder and dominant batter, Judge helped his team qualify for the playoffs and have a very successful season.
