The World Cup was a huge part of this past year. All though it happened recently, many found it as a highlight of their year. The world cup started on November 20th and is going to end on December 18th. Many are excited about who will win it all.
Queen Elizabeth’s death was one that shocked everyone in the world. Many joked that she would “outlive us all” , so loosing her was a big surprise. She passed on September 8th at Balmoral Castle.
Winter Olympics
Harry Styles’s new album Harry’s House came out on May 20th, 2022. Many were very excited for this release because his last album (Fine Line) came out back in 2019. Some of the top songs from this album were As It Was, Late Night Talking, Matilda, and Little Freak.
Another album that did extremely well was Midnights by Taylor Swift. This came out on October 21st and is her 10th recorded album. She released the past more with Evermore, which also did extremely well. Some of the top songs from Midnights were: Lavender Haze, Marroon, Anti-Hero, and Snow On The Beach.
One of the top movies this past year was Minions: The Rise of Gru. I thought this was a fun and light-hearted movie that anyone can see. It grew a lot of popularity in the summer and it even got its own menu at IHOP. A trend that started with teenagers wearing suits/dressing fancy in the movie theater.
The recent World Series was at the top of my list. It was crazy seeing the Astros compete in the world series because of their past cheating allegations in 2017. It was also the first time in over a decade that the Phillies made an appearance in this event. I wish there could have been a game 7, but overall it was an incredible world series.
One of the bad things that happened this year was Taylor Swift’s pre-sale for tickets. The Ticketmaster website crashed which caused many people to not get their tickets and walk away frustrated.
Something that shocked several at the Oscars this year was Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock. Smith did this because Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett’s (Will Smith’s Wife) Alopechia
