With a mix of good and bad, 2022 was filled with many iconic moments and topics that will not be forgotten. Looking back, 2022 wouldn’t have been 2022 without these things. Without further ado, here are 8 things that made this year as unique and crazy as it was.
1. Will Smith vs. Chris Rock
I remember watching the Oscars the night of the slap and being completely confused. As Smith shouted from his seat, the network I was watching from, cut the sound so viewers couldn’t hear his remarks. For weeks after, it became viral on social media and was the only thing anybody talked about.
2. Morbius
Morbius was an absolutely horrendous film. Nothing about it was good. I think most of the people that saw it can agree with me when I say this is one of the worst movies ever made. It even became a meme because of how bad it was.
3. The Death of Queen Elizabeth II
I was in math class when the news broke out. It was hard to believe that someone as old and royal as she was had suddenly just passed away.
4. My Singing Monsters
I know many people won’t agree with me on this but My Singing Monsters was a highlight of the year. I don’t know what was so good about it but it was just fun to play and talk about with your friends.
5. Bad Habit by: Steve Lacy
I’ve heard this song so many times in-person and on TikTok that it is practically engraved into my brain. I didn’t like it the first time I heard it and I don’t like it after the 500th time either. Even though I don’t agree with it, I have to admit that this song is basically the theme song of 2022.
6. Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard Trial
Johnny Depp, most notably known for his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, went up against actor Amber Heard, most notably known for being in Aquaman. At the time, this was all over social media. One of the main reasons why the trial was so popular is because of who was a part of it.
7. Violent Night
Violent Night is the perfect 2022 movie to get you into the Christmas spirit. With a mix of humor, action, and of course, gore, I had a very fun time watching it in the theater.
8. Russia and Ukraine Conflicts
Not only did the Russia and Ukraine conflicts affect people within those countries, but they also affected the rest of the world. One of the major effects that it had was the increase in gas prices. This is due to the sanctions put on Russia which prevented them from shipping anything in or out.
