On the Monday night of January 2nd, AHS football fans were all just watching what seemed like a normal game of Monday Night Football for the NFL. Little did we know that this was going to be a horrible and extremely frightening night. The Bills and Bengals had the last matchup in week 17 of the season, with many surprise games being impactful and suspenseful over the weekend this close to the playoffs.
On a simple and seemingly defensive play, number 3 Damar Hamlin was going in to tackle Bengals player Tee Higgins, when he was unfortunately hit in such a way that after he stood up from the hit, he fell to the ground unconscious, with reports coming out that his heart had stopped. He received CPR and a defibrillator right after and was immediately rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The game paused, and soon players and staff from both teams prayed together on the field as the severity of the injury hit home. The game was postponed
Millions of dollars have been donated to his charity fund on GoFundMe, with many celebrities donating money, along with many teammates and NFL players. He’s been in critical condition since then being put on heavy life support with air tubes being used to breathe for him at this time it is unsure of his current state, with both the Buffalo Bills and the NFL releasing updates as soon as they can. We all send our prayers to Damar and especially his friends and family.
