Avonews Online staff asked teachers and staff on Valentine’s Day about the holiday itself. Here’s a few opinions…
Mr. Steiner, substitute teacher, former English Teacher at AHS 1970’s to 2000:
“Valentine’s Day is about love, not physical, but emotional love to everyone… It’s about making everyone feel special by doing something to let them know you appreciate them.”
Mr.Pellicano, School Counselor:
“I love it! Valentine’s day is the day to show love to everyone in your life. Also, it’s a day to spread love and not hate because a lot of people nowadays hate and do not love. That’s why I love valentines day.”
Eddie Kurts (Coach Ed)- Football and Wrestling assistant coach:
“It’s a hallmark holiday.”
Mrs. James, Graphic Arts teacher and DeRebus Advisor:
“It’s lame. I feel like it was just created to make money off of people who participate. My husband and I have been married for 11 years and we have not celebrated the holiday once. We are anti-Valentine’s Day.”
Mr. Coffin, Physical Education Teacher, Strength and Conditioning Coach
“It’s just another day to me, every day is Valentine’s day in my house I get my wife and daughters flowers every month. I don’t love my family any more or less than I do on the 15th or any other day when it’s valentines day.”-Mr. Coffin
