Ever since 2019, COVID-19 has been spreading. On March 11, 2020, the COVID-19 virus had over 100,000 cases and over 4,000 deaths worldwide and was declared a global pandemic. People were quarantining, wearing face masks, and washing their hands very frequently (why weren’t they doing that before? Who knows). We are lucky to know that the state of emergency will officially end soon.
On April 10, 2023, President Joe Biden signed a bill that ends the national emergency for COVID-19. But with the national emergency over, that doesn’t mean that the virus will stop spreading.
As of April 14, 2023, over 6 million people have died from the virus around the world and are still dying from it, and it likely won’t stop for a long time if it will even stop.
We have been sitting through this pandemic for 3 years and lots of people are over it and are tired of hearing about it. Here is what some people thought about this topic
“I feel like it will lower people’s anxiety, but people will still be wearing masks, but I think people will be happy that it’s over” Jacob Kerr (23)
“I couldn’t be happier that it’s over. We might go back to normal life now” Ryan Wissner (25)
“We won’t have to worry about places and having to wear masks and we can sit close to people without them telling us that we need to move. Most stuff that COVID brought is starting to go away, which is good. We shouldn’t have to live in a world where we worry about a virus” Travis Lampo (25)
