Many of Avonworth’s theatrical enthusiasts are painstakingly waiting for the start of Mrs. Frauenholtz’s 2023 Fall Play. Students and teachers alike are asking what production will take the stage this year. Frau held an information meeting this past Monday, September 11th in the auditorium going over potential audition dates that would work best for those interested.
After conversing, an audition date was set for September 20th in the evening. In the meeting, it was mentioned that those who wish to be in the tech crew may “Sign up” while those who wish to be in the play itself must “audition” and be accepted to join. While the particular show that will be performed this year is still unknown, the show dates for this November have been published. The first week dates of performances opening the show include November 9th, 10th, and 11th; and the second week of dates closing the show include November 16th, 17th, and 18th.
While very well prepared, AHS’s drama department is still facing a similar struggle from last year: a massive shortage of males interested in performance. There were only three men at this meeting with the intent of auditioning. With the surplus amount of women auditioning and the extremely small amount of men dining so, Frau may be forced to get creative with her casting or show choices. If any male-identifying students are interested in performing in the fall play please directly speak to Frau for information as well as any conflicts that may affect the rehearsal schedule.
