Pitt Gymnastics currently holds the NCAA ranking at 45th out of 84 positions, this has the potential to increase as a new coaching position is occupied with new ideas and new corrections for athletes. Pitt Gymnastics has gained a new member of their family, as Lexi Funk steps into the role of assistant coach. Joining the team for the 2023-2024 season, the Panthers welcome Lexi Funk to assist with choreography and uneven bars during this upcoming season. Funk has past experience in coaching on an NCAA level, after leading the Central Michigan Chippewas to their second Mid-American Conference Championship title. Lexi competed for the Wolverines as a college student, gaining sucess on the balance beam in the 2019 season. Due to her academic career in the classroom, Funk was awarded the WCGA Scholastic All-American, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She will be directly helping out with choreography and uneven bars, joining another assistant coach, Amanda Wellick. The Panther’s new assistant coach is joining the Pitt team to encourage athletes, and support them throughout their college career as they pursue and further their careers as athletes and adults. Go Panthers, we can’t wait to see what the season brings for coaches and talented athletes!
