Starting in November 29, the ongoing 2023-2024 winter season, has proved to be a prosperous one for Avonworth’s Varsity Swimming and Diving Team.
After a successful rollout, a total of 19 members of the COED Varsity Swimming Team have qualified for the WPIAL championships. Categories include: 200m IM, 100m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Back, Boys 200 Medley Relay, Girls 200m Medley Relay, Girls 200m Medley Relay, Boys 200m Freestyle Relay, Boys 400m Freestyle Relay, and Girls 400m Freestyle Relay.
Across all categories, five athletes had exceptionally remarkable performances, classifying from 9 up to 11 categories of the WPIAL Championships. The highlights include seniors Elise Nardozzi, Zach Schuster, Amelia Hardiman, Sam Kohler, and sophomore student Sam Caveneugh.
Additionally, Avonworth’s Varsity Dive Team has qualified for the Diving WPIAL Championships. The first match has been scheduled for Friday, February 23. Both students, Lilia Mackenzie and Ryan Hartle have attended the event.
