It is no secret that just about every NFL roster will look quite different for this upcoming season. Monday, March 11th was the first day of free agency with many shocking moves across the league. A couple of big names found their new homes such as Saquan Barkley, Kirk Cousins, Gabe Davis, Brian Burns, and many others. One of the big names I want to talk about is the 9-time pro-bowler, Superbowl champion, Russell Wilson.
Whether you hate it or love it, a move had to be made at the QB position by the Steelers. In my opinion, this is a great signing with the cost of Wilson being the veteran minimum of 1.21 million, and will bring in very competitive competition for Kenny Pickett in training camp. This was the first of many surprising moves the Steelers made in the first couple of days of free agency.
Steelers have also made a huge signing of former Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen and safety Desean Eliot to fill the holes in the Steeler’s defense. These two defensive signings are huge to fill the holes from the amount of injuries there were for the Steeler’s defense last year. One questionable move the franchise made was trading away Pittsburgh’s leading receiver in catches since 2019 Dionte Johnson to the Carolina Panthers. In exchange, the Steelers get veteran CB Dionte Jackson and a 6th-round pick.
