There are a lot of expectations for the Steelers this coming season, and we got the chance to see a sneak peek of what is ahead for next season. With OTAs getting started last week, many fans were excited to see many new faces in uniform for the first time. Players such as Patrick Queen, Russel Wilson, Justin Fields, and many other new additions to the 2024 roster. Steeler fans got to see a sneak peek of the quarterback competition between Super Bowl veteran QB Russell Wilson and Justin Feilds that will be continued throughout the offseason. Fans also got to see some rookies wear black and gold for the first time in their careers. As well as some returning faces such as Minkah Fitzpatrick, T.J. Watt, and Joey Porter Jr.
Speaking of the Steelers CB1, he had quite the buzz in the media this past week when he made a bold statement regarding his position in the NFL. As most of the public football fans know, Porter does not lack of any confidence. He was asked who his top cornerbacks in the league were. He then went on to say “There are a lot of good DBs in this league,” Porter said. “Nobody was doing what I was doing, going against WR1s the entire year and locking (them) down. I don’t care if I am mentioned (among the top cornerbacks) or not because they are going to hear my name eventually.” Strong words from Porter than may lead him to have a chip on his shoulder. With now Porter being the definitive number 1 cornerback for the steelers, this will be a much anticipated year 2 for the young confident corner.
