2nd Semester Kickoff – Student Council Brings In Motivational Speaker for Full School Assembly

On Tuesday, February 4th, grades 9 through 12 gathered in the newly remodeled auditorium for a motivational presentation for the first all-school auditorium assembly of the 2024-25 school year.

Mr. Como stands comfortably in between the rows of the auditorium. The redesigned armrests on the new auditorium chairs make access to the rows much easier (and less painful.)
Student Council brought in Kate Garnes to talk to high school students about confidence and self-advocation, to mixed responses. While some found her positive energy whimsical and entertaining, many found her to be somewhat “cringy”.
Garnes stands on a removable extension of the stage; a new addition to the auditorium after the remodel.
Garnes also stayed after her presentation to have a small Q&A session with Student Council and Class Officers. They discussed the lack of participation within Avonworth, and then officers met with their sponsors to discuss how to improve.
