On February 28th, the Avonworth students joined the Polar Plunge spirit for Special Olympics. With a temperature around 40 degrees, students experienced a different type of winter water challenge, though. Freshman Melody Zheng and Rory Dinkfelt were supported by Miss Wickert and Mrs. White for organizing, promoting, and running the first ever Rain Rally at AHS, which raised $782 dollars from participants for Special Olympics. Instead of a quick dip into a temporary pool, or jump into the Allegheny, local firefighters blasted out students and a few teachers on a sunny but crisp Friday.
