On Friday, February 7th, Senior Sadie Walsh, junior Brune Jimenez-Corsetti, sophomore Sally Nalevanko, and Mr. Tuffiash gathered in one of the main high school office conference rooms to Zoom with Freya Skye, coordinated by Hollywood Records through Teresa Ensenat, the CEO of Moxie, an organization that works to connect schools with artists.
At only 15 years old, Skye has competed in the 2022 Junior Eurovision song contest and released 7 singles. This summer, Skye will be performing with other Disney actors in the “Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour”, which will be coming to Pittsburgh on August 14th, 2025. Skye is also set to star in Disney’s “Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires”, which is set to release sometime this year. These are some highlights from their discussion:
Nalevanko: What are the positives and drawbacks of pursuing acting at the age you did?
Skye: Oh! I think the positives are just, like, I love it so much and I get to do it every day, and it’s just honestly just a dream to be on these sets. And I think, there’s hardly any green screen as well, so when you step onto set, you’re just immersed in it, and it’s like, it just consumes you. You feel like you’re literally, you know, in this magical place. So I think just the love of it and getting to do that every day is the positive. And I think maybe the things that could be like, I’m trying to think of… I honestly just think that balancing school is a lot, with my age as well, balancing school and trying to change my mindset from “okay, we just did, like, a big fight sequence, and now I’m in algebra.” Like trying to find that balance and just really change my mindset from each is probably one of the most difficult things, but I know that it’s temporary and obviously I’ll graduate in a couple years. And I know if I didn’t do school, I wouldn’t be able to be on set and do what I love. So, it’s definitely what I think.
Nalevanko: Do you prefer acting, dancing, or singing, and what path do you see your entertainment career taking in the future?
Skye: I think, I’m not even trying to sound diplomatic… I hate to put dancing out but it’s definitely between acting and singing. I enjoy dance, but I feel like it’s more something I do to accompany my singing, or like in a video, or “Zombies,” it’s more something we do to accompany the musical numbers. So I think, unfortunately, dancing I’m going to have to, like, put to the bottom of the pile. Love it, but not one of my strengths, I would say. And then, I think, music and acting, I love them both for different reasons. Like I was saying with the tour and being on set. I think it’s really fun because they do sort of tie in… Acting helps me with my music, and I think music really helps me understand acting. Like writing a song, really helps me to understand my emotions so it can really help me to step into a character’s shoes and understand their emotions. So I think getting to play with that is really fun, but I think right now I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to kind of do both simultaneously. You know, later down the line, maybe I’ll kind of lean towards one or life will just kind of pull me down one road and I think whatever’s meant to be will definitely be. But right now I’m just loving it, getting to do both. Music was definitely my first love, but acting, you know, I love it just as much. So, yeah, maybe one day I’ll go down one of them, but right now? Equal.

Skye then discussed some of her future dreams and goals for her career.
Jimenez-Corsetti: What is your biggest goal in your career?
Skye: I have very big goals, I am very ambitious. I would love to win a Grammy. I would really love to win a Grammy – like that would be huge. Another dream of mine would be to play Wembley Stadium, which is a stadium in the UK, in London. It’s where I’ve seen all of my favorite artists my whole life, so I think to perform there and have my own show would just be full circle and just crazy. But I am just loving it so far, I’m just gonna keep going as I am. I am very ambitious, and I like to say they’re my plans to make them happen one day, but we’ll see.
Next, Skye filled us in on how she describes her personal brand.
Nalevanko: I’m wondering, since you have a really good online presence with almost 200,000 followers on Instagram, how would you describe your personal brand?
Freya: Oh! That’s a great question! I think I always try to just remain as relatable as possible. I think social media can be like a trap. It can be awful for especially young girls, and comparisons and seeing “the perfect life” on social media and then thinking that that’s real and people actually maintain a life like that. I think I always try to be real. Yes, some days I’m in hair and makeup, and I’m in these cool outfits, but most days I’m in sweats and a Harry Styles t-shirt eating In-And-Out, that’s most of my days. So I’d say quite relatable, and I hope it comes across as relatable, and just like any other teenage girl. I never want to come across like someone who’s untouchable cause I think I am so relatable and just a normal girl. So yeah, I think relatable, I would say.
Lastly, Skye shared her plans for her days off during the “Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour”.
Walsh: So with this tour coming up, obviously there will be a lot of travelling. But will you get any days off in the places where you are, and if so, do you have a tour bucket list of things that you want to do in all of the cities?
Skye: Yeah, definitely! We’ve been looking at the places on the tour, and we’ve been chatting about when our days off are and what our plan is to go out. I think we definitely have a couple of days off in New York. I would love to go and see a Broadway show or something like that. I’ve never been to New York before, so I think getting to explore and have a bit of a New York experience, even if it might not be the usual New York experience, have a bit of one. Honestly, I’m really keen to try all of the local spots in every place. I haven’t been to very many places in the US yet, so I’m really excited to get to travel around and say I’ve been everywhere. I’m so grateful to get to have the opportunity to go everywhere. I think trying foods from every place is a big one. I’m really excited to try all of the local dishes.
