Jenna Raine is a 21-year-old artist from Texas who has taken TikTok by storm. She has acquired a following of 1.8 million on the platform and has had many songs go viral, whether they were used for nostalgic edits or for fun dances. You may have even heard her songs like see you later (ten years), Roses or It Is What It Is, all of which did fairly well on the platform, with the latter gaining its own dance. Raine will be going on a small tour in June 2025 to Nashville, Tennessee, Dallas, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Recently, Raine released her EP Only Started Growing on April 25th. The EP features the songs Roses, Good Grief, Hitch Hiking, Who Am I, 21, and Never Too Late. The album mainly seems to be about the lessons she’s learned so far and her hopes for the future, because she’s “only started growing.”
Roses:
The song starts fairly slow with just Raine’s voice and a guitar, and eventually picks up a bit and adds in some drums. It maintains an upbeat rhythm and cheerful sound throughout, with a general message about remaining positive despite setbacks because you’re still growing through it all.
Good Grief:
Similar to Roses, the song starts with Raine’s voice and a guitar and eventually adds drums. However, it feels a little slower than Roses and leans more into the sad messages of the song. The lyrics paint a picture of someone experiencing a combination of relief and despair after leaving a difficult relationship. It’s “good grief” because “you can finally breathe, you’re finally free.”
Hitch Hiking:
This song is a little bit on the slower side. Raine seems to be lamenting a past relationship that has grown apart. She reflects on their memories from Texas and how they are now merely acquaintances, and she longs to be close to them again.
Who Am I:
This song shows Raine reflecting on how much she has changed over the years. This song quickly blew up on TikTok, with users posting photos of themselves with the line “The girl I used to be in 2017 / Honestly I hardly recognize”.
21:
As the title suggests, this song is about feelings of excitement and fear as Raine approaches her 21st birthday. She’s scared of making mistakes, but she accepts the fact that she’s still young and has plenty more time to learn and grow as a person.
Never Too Late:
This song presents an inspiring reminder that “it’s never too late” to pick your life up and keep going. The song continues to fit in with Raine’s light, acoustic vibe, and is a pleasant combination of simple and sweet.
It Is What It Is:
This song is very upbeat and cheerful. It sends a positive message about not caring when little things go wrong because “it is what it is,” and everything will work out. I would consider this a more lively version of Never Too Late. This is the song that blew up on TikTok in 2024 and acquired a dance made by Raine and another creator known on the platform as MADISON.
This song from 2022 is more lyric-driven and less upbeat compared to Raine’s other songs. However, it is not overwhelmingly depressing and maintains a slightly comforting, light-sounding melody. The song is about saying goodbye to someone you really care about, and the pain that comes with it, while hoping you’ll still see them again, “even if it takes ten years”.
