As the 2025 school year ramps up, Freshmen open themselves up to an exciting new opportunity within the first few weeks of their high school lives. Guidance counselor Mrs. Levis is assisting 9th grade students as they start to campaign for class officer roles in the class of 2029.

After speaking with some students planning on running, confidence levels vary. However, passion does not.
Kate Paulat, running for treasurer, said, “I’m not expecting to win. If it works out, it works out. If it doesn’t, that’s okay.”

On the other hand, Jocelyn Grande is very optimistic about her chances to be class president, stating, “Yes, I think I could win. With the help of my friends and fellow cabinet members, I have a good chance.”
Anna Heinnickel is running for treasurer and said “I think [running for class officers] is a great opportunity. I want to improve my school and class.”
In order to participate, candidates are required to submit a short video, no longer than a minute and a half. These recordings provide voters with all the information they need to know to cast their ballots in confidence. Questions regarding qualifications, intentions, qualities, and strengths are answered by the freshmen candidates.
During the week of September 15th, a number of candidates started posting color flyers across the hallways.
Hudson Karimi, a candidate running for the position of class president, reflects on his usage of posters around Avonworth’s hallways: “I don’t really know what do do for president yet, but I chose posters because everyone walks the halls.”
Whether contenders have chosen to promote their cause or not, the election is upon the freshmen class. Votes will likely be cast during LEAD on September 24th or September 26th.
