After his breakout win at last year’s Masters, Rory McIlroy wins the 2026 Masters, joining Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger as the only four back-to-back champions.
Rory’s first 2 rounds were some of the best ever at Augusta National at -12, before a setback in round 3, shooting +1, going into the final round tied at -11 under with young phenom Cameron Young.
An even par 36 on the first nine, including a double bogey on hole number 4, kept the leader board somewhat tight. Soaring first nine’s from Justin Rose and Scottie Scheffler meant there was no idea who was going to win the Masters on the second nine. Costly bogeys on 11 and 12 finished Justin Rose and Scottie could not capitalize on birdie chances. Still, it came to the final hole with all Rory needed to do was make a bogey or better.
A wayward drive into pinestraw kept the drama running. After a great punchout, he found himself just a wedge shot for his third shot. Then 2 putted for a final round 71 to shoot -12 for the tournament and the back-to-back Masters win.
